Recent recruit James, part of the Nottingham team, has some advice for anyone thinking of starting out in street fundraising.

What attracted you to the job?

I love to help out where I can, and after a previous role working face to face I grew so much as a person.

What is the best thing about being a fundraiser?

You can help so many people on a full time basis and still be able to pay the bills.

What’s the best thing that has happened to you on the street so far?

The whole time I’ve been here we’ve had so much to laugh about.

Every day is enjoyable and time flies.

It’s also great to chat to people who have received help from our charities and are now doing well and want to give back.

What would you say to someone thinking of becoming a street fundraiser?

Throw yourself in at the deep end. Hard work and dedication goes a long way fundraising

What is the greatest surprise of being a street fundraiser versus what you expected it to be like?

Meeting so many amazing people that want to help out. I thought people would laugh at me but it’s the complete opposite.

What is it like to work for UrbanLeaf?

Absolutely fantastic. I wouldn’t change it for the world. As well as all the great work we are doing, everybody is treated fairly and rewarded in a way I’ve never experienced in the past with any other company.

The people are great and it doesn’t get much better anywhere else. FACT!
